A major house renovation of this Victorian home, which included a large addition on the back and a new garage, left the site barren with few site features remaining, essentially giving us a blank slate. Establishing key site lines from the house and discussions with the owners about how they use the property led to an arrangement of outdoor rooms and circulation patterns. Brick paths connect the buildings and bluestone patios create places to gather. The integrated plantings strengthened the structure of the garden as well as add visual appeal throughout the seasons. The garden uses layers of planting to separate the public front yard from the private back yard areas.
